Sawyer Bennett has a knack for creating engaging and positive characters. And Max Fournier is definitely a great addition to her Cold Fury Hockey heroes! He is everything you want in a romance hero, and then some! Max is the star goalie of the team and is dedicated, driven and determined. He is a celebrity but prefers anonymity. His chance encounter with Julianne, “Jules”, Bradley at a convenience store where she works her second job will change his bachelor’s life. She doesn’t recognize him and he likes it.

Jules has a lot on her plate. After her sister’s death, she stepped in to take care of her three young kids and has accepted the constraints of raising them on her own. She has put her dreams aside and is focused on her new responsibilities of legal guardian. She is struggling to make ends meet, though and is working two jobs. Her easy friendship with Max comes as a ray of light in her hectic life.

Max is a genuinely nice guy, generous and caring. Nothing was forced in the way their relationship progressed and there is no insta-love in this story. At first, Jules has trouble accepting Max’s help. It’s totally understandable, they don’t know each other very well and she doesn’t want him to feel used. She also needs to get used to the negative side effects of dating a famous bachelor, the jealousy and gossip. I loved that Max was always there for her, he was supportive and a very no-nonsense kind of guy. He is nice but determined and knows precisely what he wants.

“The way I feel right now with Jules by my side… it’s a fucking no brainer. I do believe she’s what I’ve been searching for. I do believe she’s what I’m ready for now.”

Once again, Sawyer Bennett has delivered a fresh, heartwarming and sweet story in her Cold Fury Hockey series. And Max has become my favorite romance hockey player!
