Series: The Story Sisters #1
(The Blueberry Lane Series)
Priscilla Story, the self-proclaimed “wild child” of the straight-laced Story clan, has always had a knack for getting herself trouble. Except this time, her “growing problem” is going to require a Daddy sooner than later…or she can kiss her inheritance good-bye.
Shane Olson, who previously dated Priscilla’s sister, Margaret, isn’t opposed to a marriage of convenience for the sake of furthering his business interests, but Priscilla – with her wild ways – is just about the last woman he’d choose to marry.
In order to make the marriage look convincing, they end up having to spend more time together than they’d originally planned. When rolling stone, Priscilla, who lives by the seat of her muu-muu, and seriously-ambitious Shane, who’s had his whole life planned since he was eleven, start falling for each other, it’s going to take a whole lot of compromise for this Bohemian and her Businessman to find their happily ever after.
Rating : 4 out of 5 Stars
The Bohemian and the Businessman is the first installment in Katy Regnery’s new series “The Story Sisters”, featuring a Philadelphia’s upper-class family living on Blueberry Lane. It’s an opposites attract story, with engaging characters.
Artsy, adventurous Priscilla Story is the ugly duckling of her prominent family and, to make matters worse, will soon become a single mother. Shane Olson, the son of a struggling working class family, could be Priscilla’s father successor at the head of Story Imports, if he marries a Story daughter. Shane is driven and has managed to escape the life he was born into, thanks to his dedication and hard work. Marrying a Story daughter would be an excellent business deal and would give him the financial security and the power he desires.
A marriage of convenience to Priscilla would be very inconvenient, though, he is convinced that she would be an inappropriate choice for a man with his aspirations. He doesn’t do messy and complicated. They are very different, Priscilla is a free spirit, Shane is uptight, proper and prim. And yet, he is attracted to her. Shane is blinded by his ambition, it has shaped his teenager and adult life. I loved that he grew as the story unfolded and was able to change his ways and reevaluate his priorities. He is flawed, and that is what makes him relatable.
Priscilla trusts Shane, she knows he is reliable and he gives her a sense of safety. But she also enjoys a challenge, she wants him to like her the way she is, complicated and genuine. Their arrangement could become so much more! Priscilla and Shane’s story was beautiful, it makes you believe in the healing power of love! I enjoyed this book, the interactions, witty dialogue, the emotions and most of all these two very different characters who complete each other perfectly. Katy Regnery has delivered a sweet and entertaining romance, that I couldn’t put down and read in one sitting!
