Trevor Cross and Reya Cabrera have been friends for years, but their relationship is complicated and they haven’t seen each other for two years. Trevor has become a famous free-runner, starring in an epic parkour reality television show. Distance and fame have driven a wedge between them.
Losing Reya is Trevor’s biggest regret. He wants a chance to rekindle their relationship, a second chance at being his friend. He makes her a job offer, to travel with him and his free-running co-stars through Europe, acting as their PA. Reya is a little wary of what this means for them, spending three weeks with Trevor could be her worst nightmare. Trevor is like a livewire, he has been diagnosed with ADHD and his erratic behavior hurt her deeply. She is convinced that he is unable to commit, she has witnessed his manwhoring ways and she is determined not to develop feelings other than purely platonic for him.
Trevor considers himself his worst enemy, but he is intends to win Reya back and convince her that he has changed. Reya is very insecure, she has a difficult family history and she is not used to happiness. Trevor is determined to take care of her and help her find some form of resolution in her life. This story is a slow build, and the characters show significant growth as the story unfolds. Trevor has gained a deeper self-understanding, his condition doesn’t define him anymore. He is more settled and open. It is time for him to commit to a relationship. He has grown, learned and moved on. The story being told in Reya’s point of view, Trevor always remain a bit mysterious, though.
Although this book was not my favorite in the Heart series, I enjoyed reading Trevor and Reya’s story. The setting was well developed, I loved the journey through Europe, and the secondary characters were engaging. The author did a great job of tying up all loose ends and giving me the happily ever after I wanted for Reya and Trevor! This book is the last in the Hearts series but it can be read as a standalone.
Thank you for reading!
