With relationships brimming with romantic tension, this modern retelling of Romeo and Juliet is set in the violent underworld of the Chicago mob. The idea of forbidden romance and warring families is not new, but it seemed wholly unique in Flow. This story gives dark and dangerous vibes and at the same time it is really romantic. Chelle Bliss’s writing style is easy to read.
Daphne Gallo is the daughter of a man who has spent most of his life in and out of prison. Leo Conti has the looks of a bad boy gangster, is the son of another prominent mob family, and yet he is anything but. Daphne and Leo both want to live a normal life away from the violent Chicago mob world. Their families hate each other and Leo and Daphne are being watched while their romance quickly develops. I really liked both Daphne and Leo. Despite their circumstances and the fact that they were both born into mafia families and had no way out, they were really honorable characters. This was an entertaining and quick read.
My honest review is based on an advanced reader copy of this book.
