Hot Winter Nights (Heartbreaker Bay #6) by Jill Shalvis : Blog Tour

Who needs mistletoe?

Most people wouldn’t think of a bad Santa case as the perfect Christmas gift. Then again, Molly Malone, office manager at Hunt Investigations, isn’t most people, and she could really use a distraction from the fantasies she’s been having since spending the night with her very secret crush, Lucas Knight. Nothing happened, not that Lucas knows that—but Molly just wants to enjoy being a little naughty for once . . .

Whiskey and pain meds for almost-healed bullet wounds don’t mix. Lucas needs to remember that next time he’s shot on the job, which may be sooner rather than later if Molly’s brother, Joe, finds out about them. Lucas can’t believe he’s drawing a blank on his (supposedly) passionate tryst with Molly, who’s the hottest, smartest, strongest woman he’s ever known. Strong enough to kick his butt if she discovers he’s been assigned to babysit her on her first case. And hot enough to melt his cold heart this Christmas.

My Review

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This holiday-themed story with suspenseful elements was perfectly paced, lighthearted and sweet. I liked Molly and Lucas as a couple. I loved watching them fall in love and their banter was hilarious at times.

Molly is a survivor, her resilience is a strong asset. But her past has affected her in a large way, she grew up in a family where safety and security were in short supply. She doesn’t like to feel vulnerable and she has trust issues. And yet, she is not immune to Lucas’s charm, despite her best efforts. Lucas is a great character, protective, sexy and honest. He is a man of few words, stoic and unflappable. He has conditioned himself to not get emotionally invested. And yet, his relationship with Molly confuses him, his growing feelings for her are real. He wants to help her with a case related to a Bad Santa probably guilty of fraud and money laundering. He wants to keep her safe. Neither one of them intends to get attached but they enjoy each other’s company way too much.

The characters give this book its emotional pull, they are easy to love. The author kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who was the mysterious bad guy. This story had a charming small town vibe that I really enjoyed. Overall, this was an entertaining and intriguing romance.

Many thanks to the publisher and Pure Textuality PR for my copy of this book.
