The night I’m released from prison, she’s in my bed.

It’s been eight years since I touched a woman, and the Native American beauty is half-dressed, beaten, bruised, and devastatingly exquisite.

We’re toxic together, but we want the same things. Blood. Vengeance.

Violent relief in a warm body.

Beneath her touch, I’m alive.

Against her skin, I’m redeemed.

Buried inside her, I forget the past.

Until the past takes her from me.

Prison made me cold, but losing Raina makes me cruel. Ruthless. Unforgiving.

I killed before. For her, I’ll kill again.

I’ll end this once and for all or die in my boots.

My Review

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lorne Cassidy has been in prison for eight years, he was incarcerated at 18 for a crime he committed to protect his sister. Prison has hardened him, driven emotion from him. He lost his ability to connect with others, even his relationship with his sister and his close friends is complicated. But Raina has caught his attention.

Raina is physically and emotionally beaten down. Their common enemy raped, manipulated and threatened her and her family for a long period of time. She is a survivor, but her life is broken and she is lonely.

Lorne is a broody, tough man. He tries to adjusts to life on the outside again, and his demons are relentless and deeply embedded.

The pair together is like fireworks.  From the start, their interaction f screamed chemistry and a whole lot of sexual tension. Through the good and the bad, they both learn more about one another. Lorne wants to help Raina, he wants to teach her how to protect herself. He is thoughtful and they connect easily. Raina loves his overbearing ways, his assertiveness, his possessiveness and his courage. Lorne admires Raina’s resilience, her strength in the face of adversity.

The story moves at a swift pace and is compulsively readable. Throughout the book I was on pins and needles wondering what would happen next. Raina and Lorne’s dark, riveting love story  reaches it thrilling conclusion with a hard-won and totally satisfying revenge. I really enjoy Pam Godwin’s writing and I liked this series filled with drama, suspense, darkness and romance. The ending didn’t disappoint, there were a lot of twist and turns throughout the book that kept me interested.  Booted is the conclusion to the Trails of Sin, a riveting series that should be read in order.

Many thanks to the author for my copy of this book!

Truth: Penn Walker entered my life like a summer storm—dark, ominous, and filled with thunder.

After witnessing my husband’s murder, I didn’t have much of a heart left to offer a man.

But Penn took it all.

Every jagged shard.

Every broken bit.

Even the dirty and twisted pieces that I wish never existed.

Lie: I didn’t need him to save me.

Lie: I knew exactly who he was.

Lie: Losing him wouldn’t destroy me.

But that’s the thing about lies—you never know who to believe.

My Review

Rating : 4.5 Stars

I have been not so patiently waiting for the conclusion of this story! Aly Martinez is so brilliant with her storytelling! From the very first page, I have been captivated and completely invested in Penn and Cora‘s dark and gritty story and, once again, I devoured this book in one sitting. The plot is intriguing, consuming, emotional and full of surprises! Aly Martinez has a way of drawing you in her story and leaving you breathless and on edge.

I adored the strong, resilient and charismatic characters the author has brought to life. Penn and Cora have a beautiful soul connection, you can feel their connection and chemistry in every word. Their journey is deep, unexpected, suspenseful and intense in a lot of ways. The angst and trauma they both endured is mind boggling and their happy ending was utterly satisfying.

This book is where hidden secrets are revealed and the rollercoaster ride resumes. There is so much happening in this story and obviously, I won’t spoil it for you. Penn has chosen to do whatever it took to protect and free Cora. He has managed to solve some of her problems, but Cora is tired of fighting, tired of making the best of a bad situation and Penn’s quest for vengeance is far from over. Penn and Cora are so broken, they are both in a dark and desperate place. And yet, they are survivors. Their mutual love gives them the power to heal and reach for the life they both deserve. They bring out the best in each other and lead each other to the happiness neither thought they’d find again.

This duet has come to its perfect conclusion, but I’m happy we’ll see more of Drew and Catalina in Aly Martinez’s next book.

Many thanks to the author and Inkslinger PR for my copy of this book!

My Review

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have enjoyed the prior books in this series and always find myself easily drawn into the stories Melanie Moreland creates.

There wasn’t a major surprise in this book, but it took absolutely nothing away from the story for me. I think most of the surprises that really made this book came from Reid. I could not help but fall in love with this character.

Reid and Becca are an unlikely pairing and I thoroughly enjoyed the push and pull between them. This story had a great balance between humor, emotions and chemistry and pulled me in from the first page with great character connection. Their complex, complicated personalities perfectly complete each other’s.  It just took the right woman to help him see he was much more than an ex-con with no family.

This is a story about self-worth, friendship and family. You’ll meet a lot of characters, known from the other books in the Vested Interest series. Bentley, Maddox and Aiden gave Reid’s life meaning by giving him a chance to prove himself. He values their trust, their faith in him.

Many thanks to the author for my copy of this book!

We spent the entire day together. I worked on the system, with Becca acting as my assistant. More than once, she rose up on her toes for a kiss. More than once, I had her pressed to the wall, devouring her mouth. It was the best install I had ever done.

“You are such a good kisser,” she murmured against my mouth. “How can a virgin be so good at kissing?”

Pleased she was enjoying my caresses, I grinned. “I have kissed girls and women, but, as I said, I haven’t gone beyond that.” I cupped her face, dragging my lips across her cheek to her sensitive earlobe. “I was waiting for the right person.”

“And I’m that person?”

“Yes,” I stated with conviction, dropping another kiss to her mouth. “You are.” I ran my fingers over my lips, then grabbed my drill.

“Why do you do that?”

“Do what?”

“You press your fingers on your mouth every time we kiss.”

“Oh, ah…” I stalled, looking over her shoulder. I felt heat prickle my neck.

“Tell me,” she insisted. “I want to know.”

“I like how it feels when you kiss me. I guess I’m sort of sealing you into me. Keeping your taste locked into my mouth.”

She stared at me, blinking and silent.

“Is that weird? It’s weird. I’m sorry.”

I wasn’t prepared when she launched herself at me. The drill flew one way; we hit the wall behind me, a mass of entangled arms and legs, her mouth on mine, hard and passionate. I slid down the wall to the floor, taking her with me. She was ferocious in her intensity, her kisses deep and possessive.

“You say the most erotic words,” she groaned. “Sealing my taste into you?”

“So, not weird?” I moaned as she kissed her way down my neck.

“No, not weird.” She hovered over me, her dark hair falling like a waterfall around us. “You turn me on like no man has ever done, Reid. Ever.” She kissed me again.

I was good with that.

My Review

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

With the way  “If We Fall” ended I couldn’t wait to get back with Josie and Cole!

As the timeline continues, they are trying to confront the thing that has driven a wedge between them. Though Cole remains confident, detached and domineering, there is an obvious vulnerability.  And being around Josie makes him want to be a better person.

I loved the developing dynamic between them and how complicated it was for Cole to relay the truth to Josie. It is clear that these characters are willing to sacrifice a lot and fight for each other. Cole’s entire life went off track to protect Josie.

Josie and Cole fit together like pieces of a puzzle, their mutual feelings never went away. Their feelings are complex yet the depth of their love makes it all so simple. The characters the author has created are vivid and relatable. It was obvious from the beginning that their journey to happily ever after would be anything but ordinary, but there was hope for them when they started looking to the future with confidence instead of dwelling on the past.  They are honest and real in their relationship. But nothing came easy for Josie and Cole. I loved that their happy ending was sweet and romantic.

—– Many thanks to the author for my copy of this book —

While I’ll take Josie wherever I can get her, I’d rather be with her at the cottage than anywhere else. Reminds me of our cramped apartment where we were always bumping into each other and never had enough room.

As both a girl and an artist, Josie came with stuff. Hair bands. Fuzzy socks. Premium pastels. A thousand tubes of lip balm. I loved her stuff because I loved her. But I’d also been baffled by her inability to hang up a sweatshirt.

Her cottage isn’t any neater, which is just one reason I like it there. She doesn’t answer my knock. I unlock the door and let myself in.

She’s sprawled on the bed in the sunroom, her body moving with quick, shallow breaths indicating a restless sleep. One shapely legs rests over a pillow, and her T-shirt is pulled up far enough to reveal the curve of her ass encased in panties printed with purple butterflies.

Much as I love the sight of her, I dislike like her insomnia, the way she sleeps in fits and starts. Though I haven’t seen evidence of a nightmare, that doesn’t mean she’s not still having them. And going back to the accident site…

My chest tightens. I sit in a chair by the window and rub a hand over the back of my neck.

Two weeks. That’s it. Then she’s gone. After that…hell, you don’t have to think about after. You just need to make sure the truth stays locked down. That means keeping her away from Peterson and any reminders.

Or taking her away.

A roll of half-opened Lifesavers rests on the windowsill. Peeling it open, I find a red one and stick it in my mouth. Sugar and cherry spill over my tongue.

“You’re going to pay for that.” Her sleep-husky voice draws my attention.

She’s watching me, her arms around a pillow.

“I’ll share.” I push to my feet.

“You’d better.”

After crossing the room in three strides, I sink onto the bed beside her and lower my mouth to hers. Though I had every intention of talking to her first, her kiss fires me with heat. The tension in my chest loosens. I brush her silky hair back from her face and slide my hand over her cheek. Breathe in her strawberry smell. My unease slides away, overpowered by her soft sweetness.

She flicks her tongue into my mouth and over the cherry candy. After passing it to her, I lower her back onto the bed. My dick is already getting hard. I cup her breasts and rub my thumbs over her nipples, urging them to tighten. Josie sighs and shifts, hooking her legs around my thighs and wiggling her hips against me.

“You need to stop wearing jeans when you’re here.” She pushes me away and rises up to unbutton my jeans and shove them off. “Makes it hard for this spontaneous sex thing we’ve got going on.”

“I’m always hard for this spontaneous sex thing.” I shed my clothes before climbing on top of her again. Nuzzling my nose into her neck, I lick the hot hollow of her throat. I fucking love that tender little spot where her pulse beats so fast.

I inch my hand up her shirt, pulling it up far enough to expose her breasts, her pink nipples sticking straight up. The sight of her naked body jerks my cock into full hardness. Josie breathes out a moan and grasps my dick.

“God, Cole.” She shifts, urging me closer and parting her cherry-red lips. “Put it in my mouth.”

“Not this time.” With effort, I detach her hand from me and bend to kiss her breasts, pulling her nipple into my mouth. Her groan of satisfaction fires my lust hotter. I slide my hand between her thigh and into her pussy. Ah, fuck, my girl is already wet and primed, like she’s been waiting for me.

Moving lower on the bed, I push her thighs open. She rises to her elbows, her eyes widening. “Cole…”

When we first got together, it had taken her a long time to let me go down on her. No matter how aroused she was or how careful I was, she’d tense up and get self-conscious about being so exposed. But we’d both persisted, and I’d started with gentle licks of my tongue that soon had her panting and pumping her hips. And when she came…more than once, I’d been unable to hold back and ended up shooting my load all over the bedsheets.

That’s not happening this time.

We fell in love. Then our world fell apart.

I wished so hard for Cole Danforth. And one day, he came true. He was my first boyfriend, my first lover, my first and only love. He should also have been my last.

But in a split-second, we were ripped apart, our lives broken, my heart shattered. After ten years, I’ve returned to my hometown, the place of my greatest joy and darkest pain.

Muse (Manhattan #3) by Katy Evans : Release Blitz

Muse by Katy Evans

Publication Date: September 14, 2018
Genre: Contemporary Romance

A brand new sizzling standalone contemporary romance by New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans.

It was supposed to just be a quick trip to Manhattan.

My best friend was heartbroken. She needed support, and I needed inspiration.

I hoped to love the city. Bustling. Crazy. Inspiring New York.

But I ended up at the airport, heading home in the same condition that I arrived.

In a rut.

Add to all that, missing my flight and losing my laptop—the laptop, where the Best Love Story Ever sat on my hard drive.

Enter Noah Steele. Eerily familiar. Movie star. Heartthrob. Sultry romeo with bedroom eyes.

(But we’re not going there.)

He missed his flight too.

Noah is so smoldering, lip-bitingly hot, he’s not taken seriously as an actor, and is struggling to launch his career in New York.

He’s only ever had superficial girlfriends, so he’s having trouble showing true passion in his acting—the same challenge I’m having with this book.

When we met, we didn’t know that our connection would bring us the change we’d been craving.

That we’d be the very thing the other needed and didn’t know.

Each other’s muse.

My Review

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a sweet story and a quick read. Katy Evans is one of my favorite authors and she surprised me with this cute and funny contemporary romance. I loved the witty, sexy and flirty banter, the emotional pull of two strangers afraid to put their hearts on the line. I loved the characters, their quirks and insecurities, their honesty. They really connect on an emotional level, not just physical. Their romance could be fleeting because it’s instant. Even though I’m not a huge fan of insta-love, I found that it was done well in this story. And I love when two very different characters, who are destined to be together, but don’t realize it yet, meet in an unusual setting, like being stuck at an airport.

The heroine, Becka, is a writer. She hoped that visiting New York would cure her from her writer’s block, but it didn’t work.  She is an adorable character, with deep insecurities and suffering from panic attacks. There’s something entirely sweet and innocent about her. She is on her way back home when she misses her flight and, to make matters worse, her laptop is stolen.

Noah Steele is an A-list movie star, trying to stay incognito. He is genuine and gentle. And of course, he is hot. He has spent a few days in New York, hoping his career would get a boost. He likes that Becka doesn’t recognize him, he can be himself with her.

Becka makes up romances, she doesn’t live them. Their supposedly short-lived relationship is an escape from the real world, they live in their own happy bubble.  I enjoyed their time together and was really rooting for them. They have an undeniable connection, they are both incredibly endearing and just so darn likable.

While neither of these two are looking for a relationship, they can’t deny the strong attraction between them and what starts eventually as a fling quickly becomes so much more for both of them.

Overall, Muse is a delightful read, ideal for all those days you need just a little emotional boost to carry on with your normal routine. Books in the Manhattan series are intertwined, but Muse can be read as a standalone.

If I had a dollar for every time Banner Morales made my heart skip a beat…

The heart everyone assumes is frozen over.

Her anger is…arousing.

Every glare from those fire-spitting eyes, every time she grits her teeth,

gets me…well, you know.

If I had a dollar for every time she’s put me in my place, I’d be an even richer man.

I’m a successful sports agent because I assume “no” means you’ll think about it.

I’m sure what you meant to say is “Coming right up.”

They say even rich men don’t always get what they want,

but those men don’t know how to play the game. The trick is to keep them guessing.

Take Banner. She assumes she’s winning, but this game?

She doesn’t even know how to play.

If I had a dollar for every time Jared Foster broke my heart, I’d have exactly one dollar.

One night. One epic fail. One dollar…and I’m out.

I’ve moved on.

I’ve found success in a field ruled by men.

Anything they can do, I have done better.

They can keep the field while I call the shots, blocking them when I have to.

And Jared has the nerve to think he gets a second chance?

Boy, please. Go sit down. Have several seats.

I’ll just be over here ignoring the man carved from my fantasies with a lust-tipped chisel.

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amazing book. Amazing author. Amazing series! Since reading the very first page, I have been unable to get Jared and Banner out of my head. This story consumed me!

Jared and Banner are soulmates but they went their separate ways due to a misunderstanding. Banner has big dreams, ambitions and goals that require all her focus. She knows what she is capable of, she is determined, passionate about her job of sport agent and not afraid to want it all. Professionally, Jared is her adversary. He is the golden boy of sports management and owns a fast growing agency. Banner has a boyfriend and things get complicated when Jared comes back into her life. He is ruthless, single-minded and refuses to take no for an answer.

The book was so good at relaying her feelings, the guilt just at having these feelings, the questions she was having regarding her own relationship, and the attraction between her and Jared.
Her life is suddenly thrown totally off its axis by her attraction to him. It takes every ounce of effort just to withstand the pull between her and Jared. She tries to push him away but their draw is palpable, undeniable. The emotions and dilemmas felt by Jared and Banner in this story were portrayed perfectly by the author. The knowledge that she has cheated fills Banner with extreme guilt. Her boyfriend, Alonzo, is an exceptional and wonderful hero.

Jared is not the good guy in this story, he’s just the right guy. Banner and Jared’s story deals with some intense issues but it is so worth the emotional journey it takes you on. My emotions were really all over the place. While at times this was a tough read, I think this just might be my favorite love triangle story ever!

Many thanks to the author and Social Butterfly PR for my copy of this book!

I stretch my arm toward the wall and turn out the lights.

With the light snuffed out, my other senses rise, hunting for her in the dark. The smell of her hair and her quick, shallow breaths. My sight adjusts until the heavy black curtain completely obscuring her fades to gray. Light from the outer room spills under the door, revealing just the shape, the outline of her, but still camouflaging details. I cup her cheek, taking a moment to appreciate the softness of her skin, the silky hair brushing my knuckles. I’m not an idiot. She wants the lights out because she’s self-conscious, but from my perspective, she has nothing to be ashamed of.

“I think you’re beautiful, Ban.”

“You do?” she asks, her voice hushed.

My words surprise me as much as they seem to surprise her, because I don’t say shit like that to girls. The prettiest ones usually seem to already know, which makes any admiration I’d express redundant. But Banner . . . she’s so beautiful, and I’m not sure she knows.

“I do.” I push the hair away from her face.

“Uh . . . thank you.” Her laugh isn’t much more than a breath. “The lights are out, so I’m not sure that compliment counts.”

“I know your face by heart. You have seven freckles here.” I swipe a finger over the straight bridge of her nose and drift down to caress her full lips and the tiny dent in her cheek her smile displays. “And a dimple right here.”

I explore the smooth skin of her nape, under a heavy fall of hair.

“Now I want to know your body, too,” I say softly. “Take off your clothes for me, Banner.”

After a sharply indrawn breath, she raises her arms. The rustle of her clothes—the sweatshirt, jeans, socks, shoes—being discarded whisper in the dark. I approximate her by touch, reaching for her arms and closing my fingers around the softness, the velvety skin. I lower my head and run my nose along her neck, discovering.

“You always smell so good.” I’ve wanted to tell her that since the first night we studied here.

“Pretty Pastel,” she replies, her laugh low, nervous.

“What?” I pause.

“The smell. It’s my dryer sheets. The scent is Pretty Pastel.”

“I like it.” I resume my exploration, running a palm over her shoulder, her collarbone until I find the soft, full weight of her breasts, testing them in my hands, cupping them, holding them, brushing the nipples with my thumbs until they pebble and her breaths come harshly.

“You like that?” I ask.

I see her head nod in the semi-darkness. “Yeah. It feels good.”

Her touch startles me in the best way, her hand finding my face, traveling over my mouth, eyes, and hair. I sense her approach, feel tiny pants of breath on my lips, and anticipation has me panting, too, shortens my breath and sharpens my senses. Her mouth seeks mine, eager and sweet when she kisses me. Her pleasure, her excitement matches, answers, fans mine.

I guide her back down to the couch, and with a hand at her shoulder, urge her to stretch out. I’d shave points off my GPA for a glimpse of her, but she doesn’t want that. I get it, so I settle for a taste.

Writing Jace and Faith’s story was one of my best experiences as an author. Their story poured out of me, their chemistry so intense and palpable that the words burned inside and came to life in a way I’d never imagined!

It’s intense.

It’s sexy.

It’s suspenseful.

It’s packed with all the feels.

It’s everything and more that I’d hoped it be.

I fell so hard for MORE OF YOU, and I know you will, too.

Are you ready for my newest romance?”

Insta Story 2

My daddy warned me never to fall for a boy like Jace Jacobs . . .

The second I saw him walk through the door, I knew he was trouble.

A gorgeous rebel with a bad attitude and a huge chip on his shoulder.

My heart warned me. I didn’t listen. I saw something protective and good beneath the fierce, tough exterior.

I fell hard and fast.

He promised we’d be together forever, and then left me with a broken heart.

Now, ten years later, Jace Jacobs is standing at my door.

Sexier than he’s ever been.

Provocative and commanding.

Successful and powerful.

The man I always knew he would become.

But I promised myself I’d never lose my heart to him again.

Even time couldn’t dim our chemistry. One glance of his intense eyes, and I become weak. One brush of his hand, and he brings me to my knees.

Little do I know, Jace holds the key to everything I’ve lost and everything that threatens my future.

Now he will either save me, or he will break me all over again . . .

More of You – a Confessions of the Heart second-chance, stand-alone romance

My Review

Rating : 4.5 Stars

This story is told in dual point of view, with timeline jumps to the past and then back into present day. Each segment of this emotionally gripping story was a buildup. The way the author worked in the angst was brilliant. Nothing is told or forced, everything is felt. I loved that this story just flowed so perfectly. It is not a dark read, but don’t mistake that for lack of emotion or tension. This story definitely brought out the emotions in me. This book was long, but it didn’t feel long, the story hooked me in pretty quickly.

Jace Jacobs was a troubled and mysterious boy, the town outcast and Faith’s first love until he walked out of her life. Fast forward 10 years, Jace is very different from the boy he was, he is polished and has built a business empire from the ground up. He has dealt with the circumstances he was placed in as best he could. Faith made him strive to be better and change his life. She used to always see the good in him, but now she doesn’t trust him anymore. Faith is Jace’s only weakness, he can’t stay away from her. As she is threatened and trying to get through tough times in her life, he is willing to make sacrifices to protect her and her daughter.

These characters are easy to love and attach yourself to. You want Jace and Faith to find happiness. When their journey finally unfolds, you feel immensely satisfied as a reader to have reached their happy ending. It takes a while, a past full of tears and regret, deception and many mistakes to get there, but in the end it seems everything is just how it should be.

Many thanks to the author for my copy of this wonderful book!
