Million Dollar Devil, a devilish contemporary romance where big-city sophistication meets carnal hunger from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans.

Heir apparent to her father’s company, Lizzy Banks needs a man. The perfect man. But when the rich “fundbabies” she usually rubs shoulders with prove impossible to hire, she takes a chance on a raw beast of a man salvaged from the wreckage of a bar brawl.

James Rowan earns a modest income as a YouTube daredevil, but he can’t refuse Lizzy’s million dollar deal. As she polishes his rough edges, creating a sophisticated gentleman fit for the highest circles of society, not only does she bring out the perfect man—it’s like she’s making the man of her dreams. How can she resist?

Though Lizzy loves seeing James in his clothes—and out of them—he isn’t the kind of man you bring home to Daddy. Her father’s disapproval and the pressure of the campaign have her eyeing the straight and narrow, but Lizzy’s finding it awfully hard to resist the devil on her shoulder…

A stand-alone, contemporary romance.

Excerpt:

He has a face that—until now—only existed in my dreams. Hard jaw, chiseled to perfection. Firm, plush, kissable lips. Sharp, pristine blue eyes that feel like lasers zeroing in on me. He catches my gaze, and the devil’s smile suddenly playing on his lips is worth a million bucks.

That’s exactly how much it cost me. What this guy cost me. I would’ve paid so much more.

It’s like he’s the only man in the room. Like he belongs here. Confidence oozes out of his every pore. Masculinity envelops him as perfectly as his custom black suit. He walks like he owns the place. My heart beats harder and harder for him.

I can’t believe I got him to agree to this.

Women are vying for his attention. His moves are smooth. Sophisticated. Elegant.

“An autograph?” a young woman asks shyly.

He takes the notepad and pen she extends and scribbles his name, his voice low and rough. “There you go.” Beneath all that polish is his raw masculine energy. The determination that brought him here.

“James . . .” I halt him before we go any farther. “Whatever happens . . .”

He looks at me. A thousand words lingering in his look. “I know.”

But does he? I’ve fallen in love with my own creation. I polished a diamond, and now it’s flawless. Perfect. But it’s not mine to keep.

He is not mine to keep.

This elite world he’s about to join isn’t one he was born into. These fans only know him because of me. His place at the top? That’s not where I found him.

Written With Regret, the first in an all-new emotional duet from USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez, is available now!

WW Regret FOR WEB

Every little girl dreams of the fairytale. The one where the white knight rushes in to save her from the clutches of evil. They fall in love, have babies, and live happily ever after.

By that definition, my life should have been a fairytale too.

When I was eight years old, Caven Hunt saved me from the worst kind of evil to walk the Earth. It didn’t matter that I was a kid. I fell in love with him all the same.

But that was where my fairytale ended.

Years later, a one-night stand during the darkest time imaginable gave us a little girl. It was nothing compared to the pitch black that consumed me when I was forced to leave her with Caven for good.

At the end of every fairytale, the happily-ever-after is the one thing that remains consistent. It wasn’t going to be mine, but there hadn’t been a night that passed where I hadn’t prayed that it would be hers.

I owed Caven my life.

However, I owed that innocent child more.

And that included ripping the heart from my chest and facing her father again.

My Review

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was pure awesomeness. From beginning to end, it captivated me. I found myself having to take huge deep breaths because the angst was just so intense at certain points. It’s such a soulful story, I felt every deep emotion. There was excitement, anxiety, happiness and the depths of despair.

This story spans over several years. I liked how it started off in the past and then dove into Caven and Hadley’s complicated relationship and connection. The author really makes us feel and live the depth of emotion and chemistry between the two. I was drawn into these characters instantly and found them to be unique and interesting. My heart broke for them over and over again.

Caven’s life changed when he became a single dad in an instant. He doesn’t know a thing about babies, but he wants to be a good father. Rosie is his life and he always makes sure she knows how loved she is, despite her mother’s absence.

Caven captured my heart, one of my favorite parts of this book is how the author dives so deep into his mind, exposing everything bare for us to see. The way his character transformed and transcended was beautiful. Hadley is a threat and he hates her at first. She wants to be involved in Rosie’s life and he is assuming the worst. He doesn’t trust her motives or her ability to care for a child.

Caven and Hadley have a connection, they have both experienced the worst darkness, they are survivors. The chemistry between them is really amazing and there are a lot of sweet moments with the adorable Rosie. All of it was just perfection. Hadley is exactly what Caven and Rosie needed, she is generous, kind and hilarious. She is a strong and pure heroine whose world has been torn apart by a mass murder.

Caven battles with his emotions to let go of his anger and anxiety, and the struggle is real. But Hadley always finds a way to touch him. After a short time, a forbidden romance blooms.

The sexual tension, emotional connection, the mystery, the tormented characters all add up to make this an absolutely brilliant book.

The plot twist was an interesting and surprising addition that led to one heck of a reveal. I always love when a story can throw a curve ball that I didn’t see coming but I’m very happy that wait for book two will soon be over!

Many thanks to the author and Social Butterfly PR for my advanced copy of this book.

Excerpt:

Life had never been easy for me. Chaos had been following me like a dark cloud, looming and hovering, casting its shadow far and wide despite how bright the path in front of me should have appeared. After growing up the way I had, where happiness had been more of a privilege than a choice, I knew better than to believe that that moment would be anything other than fleeting.

And one second later, the universe proved me right.

I opened the door to see who had rung the bell—a cursory check revealed an empty hallway.

And that’s when I heard it: the sound that changed not only my entire life in the present, but my life for all future days to come.

At first, it was just a grunt, but as if that baby could feel my gaze, the minute my eyes made contact, it let out a sharp cry.

Confusion hit me like a lightning bolt, sending me back a step. I used the door frame for balance as I took in the yellow blanket with a hole only big enough to reveal a pale-pink face.

“What the fuck?” I breathed. Glancing around the hall, I waited for someone to jump out and start laughing. When no one spoke up to issue a punchline, I took a step closer and repeated, “What the fuck?”

I was utterly unable to process the absurdity in front of me.

Of course, I knew the facts.

It was a baby.

On my doorstep.

Alone.

But the why in that equation was glaringly absent.

“Uhhh,” Ian drawled, peering over my shoulder. “Why is there a kid at your door?”

“I have no idea,” I replied, staring down at the squirming and now-screaming bundle. “It was just there when I opened the door.”

Ian shoved me to the side so he could stand beside me. “You’re shitting me, right?”

“Does it look like I’m shitting you?”

He looked from me to the baby, then back again. “How did it get there?”

We were two incredibly smart men who had created a technology empire out of nothing. But, clearly, a baby was too big for either of us to wrap our minds around.

I swept an arm out and pointed to the kid. “I have no clue, but I’m assuming it didn’t catch a cab.”

A light of understanding hit his eyes. He moved first, stepping over the crying baby and hurrying down the hall, searching around the corner near the elevator before returning alone.

The party continued behind me, but even with the door open, the loud chatter was no match for the ear-piecing cries happening in that hallway.

Veronica suddenly appeared beside me, her body going solid as she stammered out. “Is that…a baby?”

“Back up,” I urged, throwing my arm out to block her path as though the infant were going to suddenly morph into a rabid animal. And let’s be honest, I knew nothing about babies. Anything was possible.

Ian dropped to his knees, scooping up the wailing child. Meanwhile, I stood there like a gawking idiot, paralyzed by a weight I didn’t yet understand.

“Call the pol—” He stopped abruptly and reached into the top of the child’s blanket. “Oh shit,” he whispered, his wide, panic-filled eyes flashing to mine.

“What?” I asked, stepping toward him to get a better look at the kid. Only it wasn’t that tiny baby cradled in his arms that made my heart stop and bile rise in my throat.

There, in my best friend’s hand, was a folded piece of notebook paper that had been tucked into the child’s blanket. From the looks of it, the paper was unremarkable in every sense of the word. Blue lines, white spaces, hanging remnants from where it had been haphazardly ripped from a spiral bound notebook. Even the crease was crooked. But it was my name scrawled on the outside in messy, black ink that made it the most remarkable paper in existence.

I snatched it from his hand and, with blood roaring in my ears, opened it.

Caven,

I’m sorry. I never meant for this to happen. This is our daughter Keira. I’ll love her forever. Take care of her the way I can’t.

Written with regret,

Hadley

The hall began to spin, my head feeling like every ounce of blood had been drained from my body. The thundering in my ears faded and the loud chatter of my guests, who were suddenly aware that something was happening at the door, roared to life.

And then the chaos finally found me all over again—the past playing out in my head like my life flashing before my eyes.

I sucked in a deep breath and looked at the baby in his arms. The blanket had fallen off its head just enough to reveal a patch of fine hairs, more orange than its mother’s red.

“Call the police,” I declared, turning on a toe and walking back into my apartment, leaving Ian standing in the hall with Hadley’s child.

Shoving through the crowd of concerned onlookers, I headed straight to the bottles of liquor lining the counter. I didn’t bother with ice or even a glass. I threw back that bottle of vodka, hoping like hell the burn of the alcohol could numb the panic coursing through my veins.

Through it all, that baby never stopped crying.

Blurb
Edward Fasbender is a devil.

He’s my father’s business rival, a powerful, vicious man who takes what he wants and bows to no one. I only took the meeting because I was curious. I thought he was going to offer me a job.

But that’s not what he’s after at all. His proposal is much more intriguing, and I see an opportunity. An opportunity to turn the tables and bring down the devil.

I’ve gotten in trouble playing these games before. I know when the risk is too great, when the stakes are too high. I know how to be cold and strong-willed and destructive. I know how to withstand dominant men with arrogant charm and rugged features.

Yet I can’t resist taking on Edward.

And I can’t resist the pull he has on me.

Soon I’m not so sure which side of the battle I’m standing on–if I’m the warrior meant to slay,

Or the one who will be slain.

Excerpt
I slammed the faucet off with my elbow and reached past him to tear a towel from the dispenser, which I crinkled up and dabbed at my palm. The rough paper scratched and irritated my sensitive skin, turning it an angry red. Turning me angry red.

I let out a frustrated groan, then whirled my exasperation on him. “What are you even doing here?”

One of my pre-planned talking points came rushing back at me in the beat that followed. “You’re stalking me,” I charged. It was supposed to have been an accusation with weight, meant to have been thrown at him when I innocently discovered he was at the same banquet I was attending, and how dare he! Much the way it had come across when he’d said it to me at Orsay.

Now, spat out so sourly, it sounded lame and desperate, probably because I was lame and desperate.

Grinning like a cat that had caught the canary, Edward gently took my hand in one of his and pulled the blue paisley square from his front pocket with the other.

“Am I?” he asked, the raw timbre of his voice oddly soothing. “Stalking you?”

“Yes, you are.” Rapt, I stared as he patted my palm dry with the handkerchief. I was shaking. Could he see that? Could he see how his touch seared into me? How it boiled? How it burned?

“That’s cute that you think that. I’m not, obviously, as this is my event, which, of course, you already know.” He wrapped the printed material around my hand, fashioning it into a bandage. And if your presence here is an attempt to hint that you expect me to court you, I shan’t do that either, so get over yourself and accept my offer.”

“You’re the one who needs to get over yourself. I’m not interested.” I jutted my chin out as if to dot the i of my disinterest.

Or to bring my lips closer to his.

He was already so near, his mouth only inches from mine and so tempting. As tempting as it was off limits, because I was certain it was. Even more tempting because it was off limits.

I wasn’t conscious of leaning in, wasn’t aware of the physical movement that brought my face to his. I only knew that there was this thing that I had to have, had to have badly, and that thing was his mouth pressed to mine. That thing was the taste of him on my tongue. That thing was the aching relief of his kiss.

My lips moved slowly against his with a cautious sort of eagerness, coaxing him open with a hint of my tongue. There wasn’t a question—my mouth was there, taking whether he gave or not—and yet, it felt like begging. Felt like I was pleading with the very shell of my soul to let me in. To kiss me back. To kiss me well.

Duet Complete

My Review

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book is the conclusion of Shaelyn and Garrett’s love story that started in “On the Way Down”. Together, they had everything, but somehow it all went terribly wrong. Heartbreak might be the perfect reset button for their lives, a chance for a new beginning.

Shaelyn is struggling with feelings of guilt, she believes she is responsible for her baby’s death. She refuses Garrett’s help and won’t allow herself to feel their love for each other. She tries to escape her pain, lock her emotions up and evade reality. She has insisted on a divorce, but being away from Garrett is painful to her.

There is nothing Garrett wouldn’t do for Shaelyn, he is convinced that some things are just worth fighting for. But before anything can progress between them, the past has to be considered and then put away, focusing on the present and what they can mean to each other in the future. I was thrilled they found each other again. But I guess I would have liked it to have had more punch, this second part of their story felt so rushed. From the start, Garrett shined. He is sexy, considerate, kind and down to earth. He is devoted to Shaelyn and his love is so deep.

The Retake Duet is a romance that is beautiful, poignant and takes readers on an emotional journey. Garrett and Shaelyn’s road to happiness was not an easy one, but their love overcame tragedy to get a second chance.

Many thanks to the author and Enticing Journey Book Promotions for my copy of this book.

Everyone has a best friend. Mine just happens to be Dr. Christian Gallagher— the gorgeous, green-eyed heart surgeon who wants to have a baby with me.

Yes, you read that correctly.

When my mother approached me on my thirty-third birthday with a brochure for egg freezing, it was a glaring reminder that my biological clock is ticking toward its expiration date.

I’ve always dreamed of being a mom and had a plan
— one that was destroyed when I caught my professional hockey player husband in bed with another woman.

Despite my broken heart I still believe in love. I want the happily ever after, but
I also want a child desperately and won’t settle in order to make it happen.

That’s why when I decided to take my mother’s advice, Christian came up with
his own plan: Let’s have a baby together.

It’s a bad idea. A really, really bad idea. And yet…I can’t stop thinking about
how great it could be.

There’s just one condition. Before we have sex (oh, yes, we’re doing this the
old fashioned way!) Christian is adamant we go on three dates.

Sounds easy, but it’s not. I thought sex would be the hard part, but the dates are
only making me fall for the man I’ve known almost my entire life.

Whoever said sex doesn’t change things never went to bed with their best
friend.

My Review

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was a great mix of friendship, humor and gorgeous, heartwarming romance. Meadow is recently divorced and heartbroken. Christian is her best friend, they have forged a friendship that has spanned over 20 years. Their parents have been playing matchmakers with them, but their friendship is too valuable to risk. Christian is a man who has class, ambition and charm. Meadow has always given him an important place in her heart. His career of heart surgeon has been his sole focus, but she respects and admires his priorities.

Their chemistry was off the charts, and while this was definitely a slow burning romance, their mutual attraction was undeniable. They both seem to bring out the best in each other. Meadow has been hurt in the past and Christian is the one who nursed her back to sanity after her marriage fell apart. He never wavered in his commitment to her, I really did love the way that he was so protective of her.  I absolutely loved their witty back and forth banter, how they value their friendship. You can feel the sexual tension between them, but more than that, you can feel the pressure of the words not spoken, the feelings not expressed, the dreams waiting to be realized.

All in all this was a wonderful story, full of heartbreak, healing, and love. Not to mention an amazing baby daddy. The epilogue was really sweet and left me very happy!

Many thanks to the author and Wordsmith Publicity PR for my copy of this book!

1da74-bred_ebookMy life was irrevocably changed the moment I stepped foot inside Elena Alderman’s grand front doors.

A lifeless tomb on the edge of Chicago’s South Side,
the Alderman home sat in one of the city’s oldest and wealthiest neighborhoods, and Elena Alderman was the queen.

She was also mad.

Not the kind of madness that’s readily apparent. No, her psychopathy was far more surgical—more…insidious.

She was surrounded by beautiful things—most notably her grand piano and her adopted son, Henry.

I fell in love with both.

My gift blossomed when my fingers touched her black and white keys. But my
life began when I became haunted by the boy. Henry Alderman was a
handsome blend of arrogance and seduction, and as we grew up together, I
found it more and more impossible to separate him from my thoughts. I envied
his life. I imagined how my name—Lily—would look with his. I became his
closest friend…and more. I gave him my kiss, locked away his secrets, and
loved him even when it was hard to.

But we were just a game. Elena Alderman made the rules. And when she
decided to change them, she broke everything.

Almost.

My Review

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

From the start, there was a lot of angst and mystery in this coming-of-age story set in modern-day Chicago. The romance between Henry and Lily is built very nicely and is, in my opinion, pretty realistic for a first-love type of story.

The overall story is unique and bittersweet. It’s angsty and heartwrenching while also sweet and full of that kind of young love you can’t stop reading. The messiness of the relationships made the story more exciting. The plot was intriguing and a slow build. The whole mystery factor coupled with suspected betrayals and twisted games was very interesting. It gives you high hopes.

Most importantly, it’s got what I love in a good romance and that’s character development, how they change and grow. The characters are so very well-written. They are complex with deep flaws and fears. Lily and Henry are both orphans, but their circumstances are very different. Henry has been bred to be a winner, with room for little else. He hides his emotions and is secretive and lonely. His manipulative, jaded adoptive mother makes it difficult to have real friends. Lily is a girl with a tragic story. She is an average girl, going through hard times and never giving up. You can’t help but root for her. Their dialogues were great, I loved Lily’s sassiness.

Overall this contemporary retelling of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations was an intriguing read, a classic tale of star-crossed lovers foiled by evil external forces, that got me hooked from the start. But the pacing was a bit slow for my liking.

Many thanks to the author and Wordsmith Publicity PR for my copy of this book.

Excerpt

(Copyright Ginger Scott, 2019)

“You know this stuff…” he starts, but I interrupt with an emphatic shake of my
head. When his fingers splay out over my back I freeze. I follow the path my
book takes back to the place it started in front of me as Henry slides it in place,
flipping open to the chapter I’m trying to memorize. Knelt down next to me, he
leans closer, resting his right arm next to my left one—we are touching.

I swallow. I’m going to fail. I cannot memorize something like the varied
historical degrees of differences between a Protestant hell and a Lutheran one
while the master of all hotness is sharing a desktop with me. My arm hairs are
literally electric, standing up and reaching to plant themselves in his skin.

I’ve gone completely primal—my body convinced that I am the gatherer in need of
this hunter.

“Look,” he says, leaning in even closer and reaching to flip the pages. I barely
register the movement of his thumb under a bold section of words. When his
eyes catch mine still stuck on his face, I jump in my seat a little.

“Sorry,” I say, clearing my throat. “I’m just overwhelmed. Maybe a little slow,
too, from being in here so long.”

It’s partly true, but I’m also just crushing. Crushing—that’s what Nicki calls it.
She rolls her eyes every time she catches me doing it too, then labels it with
that word. I crush in the dining area. I crush between classes when Henry pokes
my arm with his index finger as we pass in the halls. I crush when I watch him
sprint across the lawn every day at three in the afternoon, late for rowing. It’s
literally become how I know it’s three o’clock! My body just instinctually
glides toward my window at exactly 2:59. Pathetic!

At this point, we should just say that I’m crushed rather than crushing. Crushed
and utterly destroyed of all pride.

I am gatherer.

“What you need to do is make up a rhyme. Something that will help you keep
all of the key words in your brain so when it comes time to write them down in
order, you’ll have them there.”

I draw in my lips and let the acid climb up my throat.

“I don’t even understand that. Ugg, I’m hopeless,” I say, letting my head fall
flat against the book. I bounce my forehead there lightly while I eke out a
desperate laugh at my own expense.

“You aren’t hopeless.” I feel the warm breath from his chuckle and smell the
mint of his gum, and it’s intoxicating enough without his touch, so when the
warm hand slides the hair from my cheek I go full hypnosis. His fingers trace
my jaw, and my head lifts from the light pressure of his hold. For a moment, I
believe in myself just because of the look in his eyes when our stares meet.
He’s dead serious—and God, the way he’s looking at me, hair all tousled,
smile soft and true, cheeks lifted as if they’re glad to see me.

Like a drunk, I lean closer, my lips parting and ready—my mind imagining
everything I’m about to feel—Henry’s mouth on mine, the graze of teeth
against my lips, us standing as his arms sweep around my back before his
hands rush up my spine into my own messy hair.

None of that happens.

I get an inch away from his mouth, my eyelids fluttering with nerves and
uncertainty whether they should close or remain open, and Henry turns a few
inches to his left, stiffening and backing away just enough to keep me from
making this worse—as if I can make this worse somehow. The rush of heat that
coats me isn’t from passion—it’s from humiliation. My eyes remain open just
long enough to see the movement in his neck as he clears his throat. His
soft smile is replaced with a hard line, drawn under the pity that slants his eyes.
I think I understand hell a little better now. It helps that I’m in it.

“I’m just tired. I…” Why I try to speak, I don’t know.

“It’s fine.” His voice is laced with discomfort. In one blink I erased everything
that was easy between us. All because of my damn fantasies.

Fine. That word—so short, so four-lettered. Such a lie. I ruined everything.

784b8-areallybadidea_amazonEveryone has a best friend.

Whoever said sex doesn’t change things never went to bed with their best
friend.

BRED

A coming-of-age romance inspired by Great Expectations

By Ginger Scott

My life was irrevocably changed the moment I stepped foot inside Elena Alderman’s grand front doors. A lifeless tomb on the edge of Chicago’s South Side, the Alderman home sat in one of the city’s oldest and wealthiest neighborhoods, and Elena Alderman was the queen.

But my life began when I became haunted by the boy. Henry Alderman was a handsome blend of arrogance and seduction, and as we grew up together, I found it more and more impossible to separate him from my thoughts. I envied his life. I imagined how my name—Lily—would look with his. I became his closest friend…and more. I gave him my kiss, locked away his secrets, and loved him even when it was hard to.But we were just a game. Elena Alderman made the rules. And when she decided to change them, she broke everything.

Almost.

Excerpt from BRED By Ginger Scott

A coming-of-age love story inspired by Great Expectations

(Copyright Ginger Scott, 2019)“You know this stuff…” he starts, but I interrupt with an emphatic shake of my head. When his fingers splay out over my back I freeze. I follow the path my book takes back to the place it started in front of me as Henry slides it in place, flipping open to the chapter I’m trying to memorize. Knelt down next to me, he leans closer, resting his right arm next to my left one—we are touching.

I swallow. I’m going to fail. I cannot memorize something like the varied historical degrees of differences between a Protestant hell and a Lutheran one while the master of all hotness is sharing a desktop with me. My arm hairs are literally electric, standing up and reaching to plant themselves in his skin. I’ve gone completely primal—my body convinced that I am the gatherer in need of this hunter.

“Look,” he says, leaning in even closer and reaching to flip the pages. I barely register the movement of his thumb under a bold section of words. When his eyes catch mine still stuck on his face, I jump in my seat a little.

“Sorry,” I say, clearing my throat. “I’m just overwhelmed. Maybe a little slow, too, from being in here so long.”

It’s partly true, but I’m also just crushing. Crushing—that’s what Nicki calls it. She rolls her eyes every time she catches me doing it too, then labels it with that word. I crush in the dining area. I crush between classes when Henry pokes my arm with his index finger as we pass in the halls. I crush when I watch him sprint across the lawn every day at three in the afternoon, late for rowing. It’s literally become how I know it’s three o’clock! My body just instinctually glides toward my window at exactly 2:59. Pathetic!

At this point, we should just say that I’m crushed rather than crushing. Crushed and utterly destroyed of all pride.

I am gatherer.
“What you need to do is make up a rhyme. Something that will help you keep all of the key words in your brain so when it comes time to write them down in order, you’ll have them there.”

WW You FOR WEB.jpg

When I was fifteen, a single bullet changed my life. I spent the next decade trying to outrun the devastation of my past, building an empire that would shield me from whatever life could throw at me.

But all the money in the world couldn’t help me when I found a screaming newborn abandoned on my doorstep.

I’d never wanted to be a father. Passing the sludge that ran through my veins down to an innocent child seemed like a tragedy. But there she was—pink cheeks, red hair, and mine.

Somehow, against all logic, that little girl became the best thing that ever happened to me. It was impossible to stay lost in the past when I was the only one who could protect her future.

Which is exactly why, when her mother came back four years later, I was ready for battle.

If only I could stop myself from falling in love with her during the war.

About Aly

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her husband and four young children.

Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and olives. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.

She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
