Fearing that Kitty would rather see him die, Georgiana blurts out that he’s her fiancé. She’ll nurse the hateful man back to health and make him vow to leave and never return. The man who wakes up, though, is nothing like the heartless rogue Georgiana thought she knew…

You have to risk it all

He wakes up with no memory of being assaulted—or of who he is. The bewitching beauty tending him so devotedly calls him Rob and claims she’s his fiancée even as she avoids his touch. Though he can’t remember how he won her hand, he’s now determined to win her heart. But as his memory returns and the truth is revealed, Rob must decide if the game is up—or if he’ll take a chance on a love that defies all odds.

My Review

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

This story was wonderful, with superb character building, well written prose and a fascinating romance that builds up gradually. There were a lot of sweet moments between the main characters. While I’m never overly fond of the amnesia plot, I found that it really worked in this instance.

Robert Churchill-Gray, the Marquess of Westmorland, is a notorious rogue, heir to a dukedom and a very eligible bachelor. Attacked by highwaymen, he is beaten nearly to death and found by Lady Georgiana Lucas, who nurses him back to health, despite her hostility to him. Robert won the deed to her friends’ family home and she hates his reckless personality. The torment he endures because he suffers from amnesia gives him a vulnerability which is very touching.

I found Robert’s physical and emotional reactions to his amnesia believable. Also, this character was much more likeable after he lost his memory, he was no longer so disregarding of those around him that were not in his circle of friends. He is a man of contradictions and I loved him, despite his past faults. The memory loss allows him a fresh start. So the rest of the book is about the relationship that is slowly developing between Georgiana and Robert, and the slow return of his memory. But what happens when he remembers how things really were and who he really is?

Despite her lies, Georgiana was so lovely. Considerate, smart and determined. She has believed it necessary to lie for the sake of a man she previously disliked, keeping her stories straight and fighting off her growing attraction to him. Of course, her lie is getting out of hand, but I could forgive her. She wanted to save and protect him while he was utterly vulnerable. Robert stirs in her the longing for a life she never knew she craved until he came along.

Georgiana and Robert are unlikely partners. Their journey to happiness is sweet, poignant and suspenseful as they struggle to overcome the obstacles that lie in their path. Both strong and determined people, they are clearly made for each other, and I enjoyed seeing them find their happy ending. This book is the third installment in the Wagers of Sin series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Many thanks to the author for my advanced copy of this book.

Excerpt

Something inside her seemed to swell and ache for more, as if she’d just been jolted to life from a deep stupor. Her heart beat like a bird’s wing against her ribs. His tongue teased hers, and a shiver of surrender went down her spine as she opened for him. This was what she had feared and craved, all at once, and she never wanted it to end.

He tore his mouth from hers and clutched her to him so tightly she felt his ragged breath vibrate through her. “Don’t go,” he whispered urgently. “Please don’t leave.” He kissed her again, and she almost swooned into it. No, she wanted to say; I don’t want to leave you. She pushed her fingers into his hair and held on, pulling him closer and kissing him back with every fiber of her being.

“Georgiana,” he breathed, his arms trembling around her. “Come with me . . .”

I play to win, and I won’t let anything—or anyone—get in the way of what I want.

REVEAL, the raw, sexy, and jaw-dropping finale to the Wicked Ways series by New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg, is available now!

cover169622-medium

The first time I met Vaughn Sanders, I knew I wanted her. Confident, intelligent, and downright sexy. I thought I knew how to play her game. I was ready and willing for the challenge. Little did I know she was full of secrets and surprises.

But so am I.

Charming a woman into my bed has never been my problem. It’s the relationship part that is. They want it. I don’t. But can you blame me? Broken marriages are how I make a living. Hell, no self-respecting man would let a woman own his thoughts, invade his dreams, and steal his heart. So how in the world has Vaughn done that to me?

I’ve fallen in love with her. There. I said it. But that acknowledgment comes with a heavy price.

Everything and everyone seem to be working against us, leaving us both to question whether what we have is worth the cost.

I’ll be damned if I go down without a fight.

My Review

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

I’ll be honest, it took me a while to read the first chapters of this book. I was not sure I was going to like this story. After a few chapters, I got used to the storytelling and the book flew by.

Jackson Pierce and Harley Jameson grew up together and this first part of their story focuses on their childhood, from little kid to teenager. From the start, they show a lot of animosity towards one another and yet, each secretly suppresses their affection for the other. They bicker every time they are in the presence of one another and it always ends with them at each other’s throats. Hate is a constant in their troubled relationship. Yet, there is a thin line between love and hate. The dialogues are quite good but the same argument seemed to go on for too long. They both have a fiery temperament. There were some cute scenes and a few funny lines but overall this story was rather sad. Jackson mourns the family he lost and pushes everybody away.

Both characters are entertaining and it’s probably why this book was so addictive. I’m really looking forward to the next part of their story.

Many thanks to the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for my copy of this book.

You Can Have Manhattan, an all new standalone contemporary romance by P. Dangelico.

Sydney

I’m no stranger to hard work. It’s the one constant in my life. And with no family or friends to speak of, it’s been easy to pour all my time and everything I’ve got into my career as general counsel for Blackstone Holdings.

And, hey, I’m not complaining. I mean, life is good…sort of…mostly. It was perfectly fine until my boss offered me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. One I’d be crazy to pass up. All I have to do in return is marry his good-for-nothing son. I can do this. I can handle it…I think.

* * *

Scott

I’ve had my fair share of fun. Some would even say I used to be somewhat of a party whore. Pardon, party animal. I haven’t been that guy in a long time, though. Not since I moved to Wyoming, bought a failing cattle ranch, and turned it into a profitable business.

Life isn’t just good––life is great. Until a phone call from my father threatens the quiet, simple life I’ve built. Marry or lose everything. And to a woman who can’t stand me, no less. Well, I’m not going down without a fight. I’m never going back to Manhattan. Not if I can help it.

My Review

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love it when you get sucked into a book so deep that you feel the tension, the lead up to the romance, the excitement right along with the characters. Both Sydney and Scott are very likeable characters with depth to them. Their relationship was an intense one. The chemistry between them was amazing and made for a great romance read with comedic moments and great character development.

The thing I loved most about this story is how the characters become better people when they’re together, they really complement each other. They did not start off on the right foot and they become entangled in a pretend relationship. But as they grow to understand each other, they fall for each other. The author did a fantastic job of fleshing out her characters and not revealing their secrets too quickly. The heat between Sydney and Scott was so delicious.

Sydney Evans has thick skin when it comes to business, but she can’t say no to her mentor who is the closest thing to a father she ever had. He has cancer and wants to ensure that his Fortune 500 company will stay in family control. His son, Scott, is a spoiled manchild who has no interest in managing a company. Frank wants Sydney to take his place as acting CEO and marry his son to secure the board approval. He blackmails Scott into accepting a sham marriage.

Scott has changed for the best and has cleaned up his act. Because of his evolving relationship with Sydney, he is in utter turmoil, struggling with his feelings. He makes life uncomfortable for her, but he is not proud of it. He may be grumpy and hostile, but there is a kind and sensitive guy underneath that all. His flaws just made him more realistic and made me actually love him more. He just had this effortless, magnetic charm that made him impossible not to love.

Sydney and Scott’s chemistry was explosive! The pacing and development of their relationship was perfect! The buildup, the tension! It was real. It was natural. It was perfect. I haven’t shipped two characters this hard in so long!

This book brought out all the emotions. What a wonderful job Paola Dangelico did, I did not want this story to end. The writing is smart and witty. And how beautiful it was, when Sydney and Scott finally found their way to their happy ending!

My honest review is based on an advanced reader copy of this book.

Blog Tour.jpg

Excerpt:

“Just stand still for five more minutes…” Romeo scooted away and started running in circles around me, his entire massive Wolfhound body covered in shampoo. It was high time these two got a bath and the weather was finally cooperating. I’d found a spray nozzle out back and went to work.

“Romeo! Get over here! Stop it.” The more I chased, the faster he ran, tongue hanging to out, tearing up the lawn because this was the best game ever! Then Juliet got in the mix, barking loudly, and it all went to hell. Romeo suddenly hit the brakes and shook, sending suds flying everywhere––and me screaming when some hit me in the face.

“What’s going on here?” an amused man inquired. Behind me, Scott was grinning. Taking off his ball cap, he adjusted his hair and slammed it back on.

“They smell like cow shit is what’s going on,” was the obvious reply.

I wiped my brow with the back of my wrist and watched Scott’s gaze track up and down my body, taking his time to thoroughly evaluate my wet t-shirt covered in dying suds, my hair falling into my face, and my bare legs shoved into my Hunter boots. He was so distracted that he missed Romeo coming at him like a heat-seeking missile. Before he knew what hit him, Scott was on his back, lying spread eagle on the ground.

Oh sweet, sweet vengeance. I still missed my orange ASICS.

I doubled over in laughter while he blinked, trying to ascertain what the heck had just happened to him. Stepping over him with my legs straddling his body, I bent to get a better look and tipped his ball cap off his head. “You okay there, Sweet Nuts?”

Next thing I know, I’m lying on top of him. Eyes hooded and aimed at my mouth, he murmured, “Better now, Sunshine.”

We kissed and touched and got covered in mud. He stood, and with pure muscular power, took me with him. We peeled clothed off even though it was only March and still a little nippy out. Grabbing the spray nozzle, he hit me in the chest with the cold water. The look of pure shock on my face…

“Oh, you’re gonna get it now.”

He chuckled darkly. “And I’ll happily take it. This is better than a Girls Gone Wild video.”

I snatched the hose out of his hands and aimed for the jewels, but he turned in time to save “future generations of Blackstones.” His exact words. I was also labeled a “genocidal maniac,” for my actions. Which was a bit extreme, if you ask me.

After we’d rinsed the mud off, he wrapped his warmth around me, chased away the chill, and kissed me as he backed me up to the side of the house. His restless hands moving over me possessively, with the authority and conviction of a man who knew all my secrets and still wanted me.

About P. Dangelico:

Dangelico loves romance in all forms, cuddly creatures (four legged and two), really bloody sexy pulp, the NY Jets (although she’s reconsidering after this season), and to while away the day at the barn (apparently she does her best thinking shoveling horse crap). What she’s not enamored with is referring to herself in the third person and social media so don’t expect her to get on Twitter anytime soon. Oh, and although she was born in Italy, she’s been Jersey Strong since she turned six.

My Review

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

This book was fantastic, with depth of emotion, an absorbing storyline and the ups and downs of a fast paced love story. From the very beginning, the characters captured my heart.

A large part of the reason why I enjoyed this book so much was because of the hero: Piers, the Duke of Redmayne. He is such an interesting, mysterious, seductive character. I loved him from the moment he stepped on the page. There’s just something about him that lures you in, he is a beautiful, complicated hero. He might appear cold, brooding and unfeeling, but it not so, he really is a sweetheart, protective and tender. Regardless of the unusual circumstances, he soon finds himself intrigued with the heroine, Lady Alexandra Lane.

Alexandra is the daughter of an impoverished earl. She has created the Red Rogues Society, with her two best friends, Francesca and Cecily. They met in a Swiss private school and were determined to learn all the things not allowed women. They have vowed to remain spinsters and are very close.  I loved Alexandra’s determination to remain true to her heart and ideals, despite a traumatic experience. She is a doctor in history, smart and well-traveled. Yet, she has spent a decade doing her best to avoid men. She feels that loneliness is safer than love. Her smile is a mask to hide her deepest fears and pain from the world. I loved the strength that she showed throughout this book. But Piers is the kind of man who could steal from her what she has fought to regain: her dignity and her sanity.

Alexandra and Piers strike a deal : a marriage of convenience. It was is a bit of a stretch, but somehow I did not mind. Their relationship felt right and it felt meant to be. Watching them grow closer was very gratifying. Their bond was emotional, sensual, spiritual and intellectual.

The major plot twist concerns who Alexandra’s enemy really is, culminating in a compelling and dark tale that kept me riveted to the pages.

I adore Kerrigan Byrne’s writing style, her prose is elegant and vivid. Her novels are always extremely tightly plotted. There is also something about the tone of her books that I find irresistible, a combination of darkness and lightness. I look forward to reading more books by this talented author.

Many thanks to the publisher for my invitation to this blog tour.

Excerpt

Chapter One

Maynemouth, Devonshire, 1890 Ten years later

Alexander,

Accept the invitation to Castle Redmayne. I’m in danger. I need you.

 —Frank

Alexandra Lane had spent the entire train ride from Lon- don to Devonshire meticulously pondering those fourteen words for two separate reasons.

The first, she had been unable to stop fretting for Fran- cesca, who tended to give more than the appropriate amount of context. The terse, vague note Alexandra now held was more of a warning than the message contained therein.

The second, she could no longer afford a first-class, pri- vate railcar, and had, for the last several tense hours, been forced to share her vestibule face-to-face with a rough- featured, stocky man with shoulders made for labor.

Alone.

He’d attempted polite conversation at first, which she’d rebuffed with equal civility by feigning interest in her cor- respondence. By now, however, they were both painfully aware she needn’t take four stops to read two letters.

It was terribly rude, she knew. Her carpetbag remained clutched in her fist the entire time, except when her hand would wander into its depths to palm the tiny pistol she always carried. The sounds of the other passengers in ad- joining vestibules didn’t make her feel safer, per se.

But she knew they would hear her scream, and that pro- vided some relief.

For a woman who’d spent a great deal of the last ten years in the company of men, she’d thought these painful moments would have relented by now.

Alas, she’d become a mistress of manipulating a situa- tion so, even if she had to endure the company of men without a female companion, there would be more than one man. In the circles she tended to frequent, people be- haved when in company.

It had worked thus far.

Alexandra braced herself against the slowing of the train, breathing a silent prayer of relief that they’d finally arrived. She’d been terrified that if she’d glanced up once, she’d be forced into conversation with her unwanted com- panion.

Rain wept against the coach window, and the shadows of the tears painted macabre little serpents on the conflict- ing documents in her hands. One, a wedding invitation. The other, Francesca’s alarming note.

A month past, she’d have wagered her entire inheritance against Francesca Cavendish’s being the first of the Red Rogues to capitulate to the bonds of matrimony.

A month past, she’d assumed she’d had an inheritance to wager.

Their little society had seemed destined to live up to the promise they’d once made as young, disenchanted girls to never marry.

Until the invitation to an engagement masquerade— given by the Duke of Redmayne—had arrived the same day of her friend’s cryptic and startling note.

The invitation had been equally as ambiguous, stating that the future duchess of Redmayne would be unveiled, as it were, at the ball. Included in Alexandra’s particular envelope was a request for her to attend as a bridesmaid.

The subsequent plea for help from Francesca—Frank— had arrived in a tiny envelope with the Red Rogue seal they’d commissioned some years prior.

Alexandra hadn’t even known Francesca had returned from her romps about the Continent. Last she’d heard, the countess had been in Morocco, doing reconnaissance of some sort. Nothing in her letters had mentioned a suitor. Not a serious one, in any case. Certainly not a duke.

Francesca had a talent for mischief and a tendency to interpret danger as mere adventure.

So, what could possibly frighten her fearless friend?

Marriage, obviously, Alexandra thought with a smirk.

A risky venture, to be sure.

Needed me.
Before I hated her…
Things were simple.
We had an understanding.
Bully. Fight. Hate. It’s what we did.
Mind. Body. Soul. It’s how we loved.
I thought nothing would ever change that, until everything did.
She was mine.
Always had been.
Always would be.
Nothing altered that.
Not how much I hated her.
Not how much she hated me.
Especially, not how much I hated…
That I LOVED her.
